New Village Arts Theatre Company presents Men On Boats
Ten explorers. Four boats. One Grand Canyon. Men on Boats is the true(ish) history of the 1869 Powell Expedition, which sent a one-armed captain and a crew of insane, yet loyal volunteers down the Colorado River. This New Village Arts Theatre production features one major twist: all the roles are played by women. With a cast fully loaded with some of San Diego's finest female actors, this gender-bent comedy re-writes history. Embark on a grand adventure when Men on Boats makes its regional premiere in Carlsbad.

“…off-the-canyon-walls funny…” — Variety

“Men on Boats is marvelously destabilizing both as history and theater. The stalwartness and selfishness of the adventurers—their cockiness and cluelessness—become biting satire when sent up by women.” — New York Magazine

CRITIC’S PICK! “A rollicking history pageant!" — NY Times
