The SAMAHAN Filipino American Performing Arts & Education Center is excited to announce our inaugural concert of Philippine dances and music, which will primarily feature Samahan’s junior dancers. Aptly entitled, "Pamana" (Legacy) - Celebrating Heritage Through Our Children, this two-hour concert will be held on May 26, 2018, Saturday at 6:00 pm at the David & Dorothea Garfield Theater (Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, 4126 Executive Drive, La Jolla, CA 92037). Come celebrate and support third generation Filipino Americans enriched by Philippine cultural arts. SAMAHAN’s junior dancers will give a heartening presentation of their cultural heritage through dancing popular Filipino folk dances and singing nostalgic songs. Live music accompaniment is provided by the acclaimed Samahan Rondalla and the Pakaraguian Kulintang Ensemble.

SAMAHAN Filipino American Performing Arts & Education Center, Inc. is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization that presents a rich combination of exhilarating performances and professional training in Filipino performing arts through dances, music and traditions. Founded in 1974 by the late Dr. Lolita Diñoso Carter, SAMAHAN’s primary purpose is to teach students how to perform Filipino folk dances and music, to instill in them the appreciation and love for the Filipinos’ cultural heritage. Folk dance and music classes are taught by professionally trained and experienced teachers who have been performing with SAMAHAN for several years. SAMAHAN’s educational cultural programs are funded in part by the California Arts Council – Local Impact, the National Endowment for the Arts, the County of San Diego Community Enhancement Program, The San Diego Foundation - Dr. Lolita Diñoso Carter Endowment and individual contributions.
