Presented by San Diego Actors Theatre
Coming to Pioneer Park in Mission Hills will be a site-specific presentation of The Zoo Story by four-time Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright, Edward Albee. The play takes place on a sunny Sunday afternoon on a park bench in Central Park.
SDAT’s production will take place on Saturday and Sunday afternoons in Mission Hills at the charming Pioneer Park with Fred Harlow as Peter and Byron LaDue as Jerry and directed by Patricia Elmore Costa.
Edward Albee and his play, The Zoo Story written in 1958, achieved instant acclaim for the “recognizable humanity of its characters” (Green, 2004) and for its themes of daily despair beneath the surface of middle-class life. The play explores themes of isolation, loneliness, miscommunication, and dehumanization in a commercial world.
