Point Loma Playhouse presents a Different Stages production of the San Diego premiere of Building The Wall.
Written by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winning playwright Robert Schenkkan, Building The Wall was written in direct response to the immigration policies of the Trump administration.
In 2019 the Trump administration has carried out their campaign promise to round up and detain millions of immigrants. As a writer interviews the former supervisor of a private prison, it becomes clear how federal policy has escalated to a terrifying, seemingly inconceivable, yet inevitable conclusion. This one act drama will open up conversation that will ignite debate on a burning hot topic that is festering at the top of many tempers in this somewhat heated, divergent, and argumentative political climate.
Playing to sold out houses around the country, Building The Wall makes its way to San Diego with a story, although set in Texas, hits close to home.

“There’s a hold-your-breath inevitability to what is finally disclosed in 'Building the Wall,' the powerful dystopian drama about life in the Donald Trump era by Robert Schenkkan. You hear it in the distant, unnerving soundscape. You see it as two characters increasingly come to grips with their worst fears. Most of all, you feel it in the gut, because what the writer imagines is not so much a fanciful futurist leap but a calculated cautionary tale, taking place just two years from now”. — Frank Rizzo , Variety.
