In 2009, Ron produced the San Diego premiere of the Off-Broadway musical "Zanna, Don't!". Ron joined the SDPAL Board in September 2009, and is currently serving as its Treasurer.
Secretary - Judy Berman Silbert
Judy has an educational background in writing and public health, but after working for many years in health promotion she turned her energy to the arts-- always a personal passion. She has helped grow various youth theatre programs via grant writing, public relations, and event planning. She works with Coronado School of the Arts as a media relations consultant, and since 2005, Judy has been part of the Mission Federal ArtWalk team as writer/editor of Mission Federal ArtWalk Magazine.
In response to dwindling budgets for visual arts education, Judy helped found and now works as Program Director of ArtReach, a not-for-profit program that takes professional artists into elementary schools throughout the county to offer unique art workshops. ArtReach teaches the value of collaborative art and San Diego Performing Arts League embodies the power of such collaboration among artists and arts organizations.
Development- Barbara Maisel
For more than 15 years, Barbara Maisel has worked with numerous non-profit organizations. Having a background in accounting and charity auction event consulting, Barbara has assisted many groups with budget planning and fundraising. With her love of the arts and working with young artists, she is a founding member board member of ACT – San Diego, a local youth theatre company. Barbara joined the SDPAL Board in February 2009.
Member At Large - Jeff Bushnell
Jeff Bushnell started North Park Vaudeville and Candy Shoppe with his wife Summer Golden. They have produced the North Park Playwright Festival each October for the past six years. The festival provides a platform for brand new, short (ten minute), plays written by playwrights from around the world. Over the past seven years more than 160 new plays have been produced.
When asked why they didn’t become a nonprofit organization and go after grants, Jeff shrugged and said, “Look, I fly around the country all week as an airline pilot and when I get home I am inside these doors running the theatre with the woman I love. It’s just the two of us, so we don’t have the time. And besides, this way we can do it our way.”
